On November 23rd, the NC Bloom Youth Charity Group and the Chinese Headlines Youth Journalism Group gathered at the home of NC Bloom’s President and co-founder, Lucy, for a Thanksgiving Day reunion, which was also the first step for the NC Bloom Youth Charity Group, which is committed to providing a platform for more Chinese youths to participate in charitable services, cultivate leaders, and play an influential role, to set up its own It was also the first step for the NC Bloom youth charity organization to establish its own small press corps.

All participants introduced themselves one after another, and my impression was that all of them were full of spirit and enthusiasm. All of them expressed a positive sense of participation in public service, and all of them were able to recognize the importance of serving the community and exerting Chinese influence. In just 8 months, NC Bloom members have been able to donate money to the poor mountainous areas in Sichuan, China, purchase tablet PCs, build an electric classroom, and donate school supplies and daily necessities to poor children in Africa. This is the “speed of Chinese youth in North Carolina”! We would like to thank Ms. Catherine, President of Chinese Headlines USA & North & South Carolina, and Ms. Zi, Chinese Headlines Parenting Reporter and mentor of the Chinese Headlines Youth Corps, for their unstinting help and support along the way.

Dr. Willie Dixon, the former admissions officer of Duke University, shared his experience and set off the climax of the reunion. Dr. Willie Dixon, who has rich experience in admissions of famous universities, spoke eloquently and shared with us with great enthusiasm and sincerity several key points in selecting talents for universities, one of which is as follows: universities prefer young talents with leadership. What is leadership? Leadership is not a title, it’s going out and getting involved. Go serve your community, apply your thinking to whatever service you are involved in, make the lives of those around you better because of you, and make your community a better place because of your involvement. When you do something or get involved in something wholeheartedly, you don’t need to go around saying something, people will naturally see and know.

In addition to NC Bloom’s founding members, the Chinese Headline Teen Reporters Group, and several important guests, there were also Auntie Mun Mun (Lucy’s mom), one of the core members of NC Bloom’s parent support group, and some children and parents of visiting scholars’ families who have recently joined NC Bloom’s youth charity group. Everyone was surprisingly united in their desire to get involved in the community, learn about society, and contribute as much as they could to the cause.

For myself, I have been involved in public service with my mom since I was a child for over eight years. The time I spent doing public service with my mom was one of the gifts my mom gave me in life. My mom has said that public service is a positive way to open up the world, to greatly expand the boundaries of our minds, and to build deeper connections with others and with the world. Over the years, she has often taken me and her college students to participate in various public service activities at home and abroad, hoping that in the process of exchanging and learning from each other and from friends all over the world, we will slowly learn to know ourselves and the world, and gradually know how to love ourselves, others, and the world.

Albert Einstein once said, “A person’s value is reflected in how many people he can help. (Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.)

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, also said on International Youth Day: Humanity depends on the boundless energy, ideas and contributions of young people around the world. Today and every day, let’s support and stand with young people to shape a just and sustainable world for humanity and the planet. every day, let’s support and stand with young people in shaping a just and sustainable world, for people and planet.)
